I am a CPA with over 33 years of professional work experience. As the Controller of CAF America, I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the Finance Team and the accounting functions of the organization. I oversee the monthly financial statement close process, annual audits, and tax return preparation. I am also involved in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of process and system changes.
Prior to joining CAF as the Controller in November 2024, I most recently served as the CFO of an independent school. I have over 11 years experience as an SVP/VP and Controller in large, global nonprofit organizations, ten years in data warehousing, and nine years in public accounting. I have experience in all aspects of the Finance office, including budgeting, forecasting, monthly financial statement closing and reporting, audit management, and tax return preparation. I have experience as a Board Treasurer and presenting to Finance Committees and Boards. I have managed relationships with external parties including audit firms, investment advisors, bank representatives, insurance brokers, and attorneys. I also have experience as a Retirement Committee member and the functioning of defined contribution retirement plans.
I enjoy managing people and encourage teamwork and focus on customer service. My teams have said that I am a “calming factor” as I am not easily flustered or stressed. I am easily able to change my focus as priorities change and focus on getting work done. I am a proponent of change and encourage the use of new systems and process enhancements to improve work flow. I obtained my BBA in Accounting from the College of William & Mary in 1991 and my Master of Accountancy from the George Washington University in 2001. I enjoy spending time with my three children, walking my two dogs, traveling, and watching movies.
