Preparing for Disaster Response: 2024 Hurricane Season
As the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season approaches, NOAA predicts an 85% chance of above-normal activity, expecting 17 to 25 storms, including up to 13 hurricanes. Central America and the Caribbean are particularly vulnerable, with risks of severe flooding, landslides, and long-term agricultural damage exacerbated by La Niña conditions. CAF America highlights the importance of preparedness, community resilience, and proactive support for affected regions to mitigate the impacts and aid recovery efforts.
Impact Updates: One Year After the Türkiye and Syria Earthquakes
With spring marking one year since two earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria took the lives of over 55,000 people, we’re pausing to reflect on the large impact our donors have had on the recovery from this devastating disaster. Over the past year, CAF America granted over $4,028,000 to 23 partner organizations in Türkiye. From rescue efforts for people and animals to rebuilding schools, homes, and businesses, learn about our collective impact, achieved through the support of our donors and grantee partners.
