Proposed DAF Regulations: What’s at Stake for Cross-Border Giving

December 12, 2023

On November 14, the US Treasury Department issued new proposed regulations for donor-advised funds (DAFs) that will have implications for international grantmakers. While this guidance has not been implemented, all donors and funders should pay close attention to the potential impacts of the new regulations on the practice of giving to non-501(c)(3) grantees from a DAF. Bringing thirty-two years of experience to bear on this timely update, CAF America urges all grantmaking professionals to tune in to our webinar.

Recorded on December 12, 2023, our webinar tackles questions like:

  • What does the proposed definition of a “donor advised fund” mean for DAF grantmaking to foreign entities?
  • What assumptions around how DAFs should be managed have been confirmed or challenged?
  • Which specific definitions and contingencies defined in the proposed guidance allow for more structured execution of donor recommendations?
