I’m Melanie Mortensen, a Senior Associate on the Grants Services Expedite team. My role involves reviewing and supporting grantee organizations during the eligibility application and due diligence process.
Prior to joining CAF America, I volunteered and worked in the nonprofit sector, focusing on women’s empowerment as well as girls’ and women’s health education. Most recently, I served as a Grants and Development Associate at Ripples in Africa, where I crafted grant proposals, fostered partnerships, and devised fundraising strategies for their women’s economic empowerment programs in West Africa.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Global Technology and Development, with a focus in Public Administration, from Arizona State University. I focused my thesis on exploring the impact of social enterprises on resettling refugee women in the United States.
In my free time, I enjoy teaching myself how to play the piano and guitar, reading mystery books and finding the best local Thai restaurants to dine at.
